Faith Mission is one of the largest homeless shelters in Columbus, Ohio, providing meals and shelter to men, women and Veterans with dignity and compassion. What will I do as an Engagement Specialist with Lutheran Social Services?Greets all volunteers, residents and prospective residents. Provides communication, information, and supplies to residents as needed related to shelter services including bed assignments, locker assignments, towels, bedding and self-care suppliesMaintains overall cleanliness and sanitation of shelter facility including resident dorms, hallways, floors and lounges in assigned areasAssigns and supervises resident service work and encourages residents to fully participate in agency services and campus communityHolds shelter residents accountable for upholding shelter rules and expectations. Communicates any issues or concerns to Manager or Case Manager as appropriateTakes resident attendance, maintains bed count and ensures shelter capacityAssists in donation receiving and deliveryProvides information to clients on Faith Mission and other services such as medical, dental and vision care, community resources and diversion services during absence or high volume timesFacilitate shift report to oncoming shift personnelEscort volunteers and staff between buildings as neededAssist with shelter laundry servicesPerform all other duties as requestedRequirements for an Engagement Specialist with Lutheran Social Services:High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience is required. Experience with homeless or other special needs populations, preferred. Ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals.
