Job Title: General Labor

Job Description

Join our Environmental team to help maintain and ensure compliance with environmental regulations at our facility. You will be instrumental in keeping the facility, grounds, and equipment clean and up-to-date.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sweep the facility and grounds.
• Move materials and scrap metal.
• Eliminate debris and waste.
• Perform general facility upkeep.
• Engage in production activities in the scrap metal yard.
• Pick, load, and unload shipments.
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance.
• Dispose of trash and debris by sweeping and shoveling.
• Use pressure washers on equipment.
• Fulfill any additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 1+ year of experience in an outdoor environment (construction, landscaping, or similar).
• Proficiency in general labor and cleaning.
• Experience with janitorial duties and general construction.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• English proficiency is required.
• Bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred.

Work Environment

Work in a historic steel, metal, and auto recycling company with over 100 years of history. The site in Oakland features an inside production area and a large outdoor yard filled with heavy machinery and moving parts. Expect loud noises and dusty conditions. Positions are mainly in the Joint Products department, which is slightly indoors. Adhere to the dress code of steel toe shoes, pants, plain t-shirt or sweater, and a provided vest. Shifts are from 3:30 pm to 1 am, with potential changes to an 8 pm to 6 am shift. Be prepared for Saturday overtime as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
