Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Activities Director to join our team at Central Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Syracuse, New York. As a member of our Interdisciplinary Team, the Activities Director will be responsible for providing a comprehensive assessment and care planning of residents' preferences for activities and developing an ongoing program to support their choices.
Responsibilities:
Manage a small team of activity aides and support them in delivering a variety of activities to promote resident engagement and satisfaction
Conduct resident assessments, develop care plans, and maintain documentation in resident records
Develop monthly and ongoing schedules of activities that cater to residents' preferences and needs
Assist residents in running the Resident Council and exercising their rights, including voting
Complete training in dementia care and other relevant areas
Attend resident care conferences and reassess changes in care plans as needed
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care and support
Requirements:
A Qualified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (QTRS) or an activities professional with:
Eligibility for certification as a therapeutic recreational specialist
Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, with one year of full-time experience in an activities program
Completion of an approved State training course in activities
