Job Title: Infection Preventionist Profession: Nursing Specialty: Infection Prevention Duration: Full Time Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control experience and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience. License: Current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in the U.S. Certifications: Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC), Basic Life Support (BLS) current within 3 months of hire. Must-Have: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare-related field required. Description: The Infection Prevention and Control Manager is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections. This role includes monitoring reportable conditions and educating employees about infection prevention. Development of policies and procedures ensures rigorous infection prevention and control standards. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulatory and nationally recognized guidelines. This position involves collecting, trending, preparing, and maintaining all infection control data and statistical reports. The role provides support and resource assistance in infection prevention, control, and surveillance. As an expert in Infection Prevention and Control, the individual will facilitate and promote education and training. Maintaining strong relationships with public health entities is essential for updating distributed information. Conducting new and annual employee infection prevention and control orientation and training is required. The Infection Preventionist serves as chair for the Infection Prevention and Control committee and participates in other committees. Supervisory responsibilities are included in this position. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease, along with project management and performance improvement methodology. Proficiency in computer skills, especially in MS Office and database applications, is essential. Strong communication skills, considering health literacy needs in multicultural settings, are critical for success. The ability to manage programs and evaluate their effectiveness is necessary. The candidate must work well both in a team environment and independently. Maintaining a professional demeanor and clear communication with staff and leadership is important. The role requires assisting leadership in integrating infection control principles with strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate should effectively work with various relationships within the organization.
