Mitchell Hamline School of Law is seeking to hire a full-time Security Officer. The incumbent in this position will provide a safe and secure environment for this multi-building campus and serve as a first responder to emergencies (i.e., CPR) and incidents. Additionally, this position provides customer service to students, visitors, staff, and faculty. The Security Officer provides routine security work for MHSL property and maintains the security of MHSL buildings. Duties and Responsibilities:Make regular inspection tours of campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and other security incidents.Respond promptly to calls for assistance, alarms, and emergency situations (medical, fire, safety, etc.).Monitor surveillance systems and access control systems.Ensure that only authorized persons are admitted to assigned areas of buildingEnforce campus rules, parking regulations, and safety procedures.Conduct safety checks of doors, windows, and equipment.Prepare accurate incident, accident, and daily activity reports.Provide safety escorts for students, staff, and visitors as needed.Assist law enforcement and emergency personnel when required.Work and communicate with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative mannerKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of procedures involved in buildings and grounds security.Exceptional customer service abilities, with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with both internal and external customers.Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated good judgment.Good deductive reasoning skills.Ability to maintain simple records.Display high standards of ethical conduct. Exhibits honesty and integrity. Refrains from theft-related, dishonest, or unethical behaviormitted to quality service.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma with some specialized training of less than 2 years (technical or business school)3 years security experienceCertification in first aid, self-defense, ASP training (or are willing to become certified or recertified)Valid Driver's licenseAcceptable FBI/BCA background check and Motor vehicle checkPreferred QualificationsCPR certification (or are willing to become certified or recertified)Pay RangeThe estimated pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour.
