Job description

The Northwell Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation and the Division of Hepatology at Northwell Health are actively seeking a Clinical Director of Hepatology at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, NY.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Board certification in transplant hepatology
  • Provides clinical leadership and leads strategy and program development
  • 5+ years of transplant hepatology experience is preferred
  • Leadership experience in a healthcare setting, preferably within a large health system or academic medical center
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning

This critical role involves overseeing the medical care of patients with liver diseases, including those in need of liver transplantation. The position is open to candidates at the assistant, associate, and professor of medicine levels, depending on qualifications and experience. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and treating liver conditions, assessing eligibility for liver transplantation, overseeing both pre- and post-transplant care, and educating medical students, residents, and GI and Transplant Hepatology fellows. Candidates should be BE/BC in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology, with proven expertise in General and Transplant Hepatology as well as endoscopy. This leader will be working alongside a team of hepatologists, advanced care practitioners, and other clinical and medical professionals at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation - Lenox Hill location. The role demands excellence in clinical and diagnostic skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective teamwork and patient care, and eligibility for medical licensure in New York State. Additionally, the position is suitable for individuals at various stages of their academic careers, including assistant, associate, and full professor levels. Experience in academic research and/or teaching is highly valued and will be considered a significant advantage.
