PositionAdjunct Instructor of Art - Graphic DesignDescriptionThe Department of Art seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Adjunct Instructor of Graphic Design to teach courses across all levels of our graphic design curriculum. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educating students in both foundational and advanced aspects of graphic design, preparing them for careers in the design industry. This role requires a commitment to fostering creativity, technical skill development, and critical thinking in a Christ-centered learning environment.ResponsibilitiesTeach graphic design courses at various levels, from introductory design principles to advanced design methods and practices.Instruct the use of industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.Develop and deliver engaging curriculum materials that cover topics such as typography, branding, layout, digital media, and interactive design.Facilitate learning of principles of art and designDemonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship of students.Collaborate with department faculty to enhance curriculum and student learning experiences.Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to foster their growth and development as creative professionals.Engage in professional development activities related to professional field.Participate in departmental meetings and other activities as needed.Preferred Qualifications, Skills and AbilitiesMaster's degree preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates with a Bachelors and required/adequate experience or higher in Art, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.Incorporate Christian principles in teaching to encourage students' personal and professional growth within a faith-based framework.Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback through critiques, assignments, and project evaluations.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.Evidence of scholarly activity or research in the field of graphic design.Experience teaching graphic design courses at the college level preferred.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.About Bethel UniversityThe mission of Bethel University, affiliated with the Missionary Church denomination, is to be a community of learners building lives of commitment for leadership in the Church and world.
