Job description


1. Undertake health consultations for management referrals, conduct DSE assessments and pre-employment health screening. Delivering against key KPI's to ensure a timely and customer centric Occupational Health service and ensuring colleagues to have access to the equipment they need to mitigate health risk, health and wellbeing related considerations and adjustments are identified and evidence-based advice is provided on colleague's fitness for work. Liaise with colleagues, managers, and other stakeholders to recommend reasonable adjustments and support plans to remain in or return to work. Manage follow-up processes, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication with all parties involved. Manage DSE triaged cases to ensure colleagues have access to the equipment they need to mitigate health risks. 2. Manage follow-up processes, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication with all parties involved. Conduct pre-employment health screenings to assess candidates' fitness for their role, providing relevant and timely reports to hiring managers regarding health and wellbeing related considerations and adjustments required. 3. Ensure all occupational health activity is carried out within clinical governance frameworks and policies and full compliance with occupational health law, regulations, best practice and accreditations. Ensure advice and recommendations align with colleague and organisational needs and clinical audit recommendations are embedded effectively. 4. Take ownership of personal clinical learning and professional development, staying updated on advancements in occupational health practices, regulation, legislation, and technologies. Regularly participate in relevant training, conferences, and professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical expertise. Reflect on professional practice and seek feedback to continually improve the quality of OH services provided. Maintain professional registration and meet the requirements for continued professional development (CPD) as outlined by the appropriate governing body. 5. Champion a wellbeing culture across the organisation and support with the development of evidence-based content and resource to educate and raise awareness of health and wellbeing services and reduce stigma around mental and physical health. Ensure effective signposting is in place for colleagues to access the relevant services when they need them. Support the Head of occupational health and wellbeing team with the development of initiatives that assess, target, and mitigate relevant workplace health risks. 6. Equip managers with the necessary tools, training, and knowledge to handle Occupational Health conversations effectively and enhance manager capability in identifying, addressing, and resolving workplace health concerns. Participate in colleague community groups to share health risk mitigation and best practise. 7. Day to day management of Occupational Health technology systems. Maintain confidential and accurate medical records in line with GDPR, organisational policies and clinical governance frameworks. Provide regular reports to the Head of Occupational Health on trends, key issues, and outcomes of OH activities. Key Contacts & Relationships: Internal * Wellbeing * Safety * Wider People team * Clinical standards * Audit * Colleagues External * Relevant regulatory bodies - NMC, GMC, HCPC * Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). * Customers * External occupational health networks Qualifications & Experience Essential • Professional registration with NMC or HCPC • Specialist qualification in Occupational Health - diploma or degree • Demonstrable experience in managing pre-employment screenings, management referrals, and follow-up processes • Experience of long-term health condition management within HR Policies / Employment Law • A customer-centric mindset, prioritising the needs of both colleagues and business • Excellent relationship skills and able to engage with individuals at all levels • Able to use data and technology to identify trends and key health risks • Demonstrable commitment to CPD and maintaining professional registration.
