We are currently looking for a Software Engineer to join an Edge Platform team building software that connects automated industrial equipment to cloud-based systems. This is a backend-focused role working with IoT devices, sensor data, and distributed systems in production environments.
You’ll design, build, and maintain the edge-to-cloud data pipeline, including containerized services, APIs, databases, and integrations with industrial controllers. You’ll also work closely with Controls, HMI, Manufacturing, and Field Support teams and help mentor other engineers.
Location: North Raleigh, NC — Onsite
Salary: $120K–$140K
Travel: Approximately 2–8 trips per year to suppliers, conferences, or customer sites
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong C#/.NET experience
- ASP.NET Core and REST API development
- SQL and relational database engineering
- Experience with containerization and Linux deployments
- Git and CI/CD experience
- Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions
- Strong backend software engineering fundamentals
Desired Skills
- Python
- Industrial protocols such as MODBUS, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or EtherCAT
- Azure or AWS/GCP
- Kubernetes, K3s, or MicroK8s
- IoT or embedded device software
- Experience working with sensor or time-series data
- Grafana or analytics platforms
What You Will Be Doing
- Build and maintain backend services and REST APIs
- Develop edge-to-cloud data pipelines for IoT devices
- Design database schemas, migrations, partitioning, and retention strategies
- Build containerized services and deployment configurations
- Integrate industrial controllers and equipment
- Develop and test software on live production equipment
- Contribute to system architecture and technical documentation
- Work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams
- Mentor junior engineers
