Position Summary: The Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Guest Engagement Associate, who has an authentic interest in the mission and work of the VMHC. Guest Engagement Associates serve as a part of the Education & Engagement Division and report directly to the Director of Guest Engagement. They are tasked with creating a welcoming environment for all Virginia Museum of History & Culture guests, while providing excellent customer service, accurate wayfinding information, and maintaining a friendly retail experience. In addition, qualified candidates will assist with digital outreach and on-site programming as needed. Duties & Responsibilities: Staff desks at museum entry points, assist guests with wayfinding and exploration, and provide excellent customer service to all guestsOperate POS systems to process admission and retail sales, assist with visual merchandising, and maintain the appearance of the museum storeFulfill web and mail-order purchases and assist with digital outreach initiatives and on-site programming for students and adultsPerform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Necessary: Must be responsible, flexible, punctual, and able to work well under pressureMust possess excellent communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and an interest inVirginia historyPhysical requirements include standing for long periods of time, retrieving merchandise that can weigh up to 30 pounds, and the ability to work weekends, holidays, and select special events Education & Experience Requirements:High School Diploma or EquivalentRetail and point of sale experience preferredCustomer service experience preferred Notes & Special Requirements:Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and some nights.Leave, wellness and retirement benefits offered in accordance with company policy.
