USD Sanford School of Medicine is seeking a Department Assistant to support multiple departments — including Neurosciences, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pathology, Radiology, and Surgery with emphasis on managing Pillar 2 and 3 medical student clerkships. This position will provide administrative support to the departments and coordinate clinical rotations for medical students which includes maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of various and frequently changing schedules, communicating schedule changes to all necessary parties, and collaborating with both students and faculty.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of modern office/clerical procedure and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Experience with office equipment and software including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom along with the ability to quickly learn new technology platforms such as One45 and D2L.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, residents, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience working in education.
This position offers state health insurance and benefits, which includes a retirement plan with 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and 11 paid holidays. Employees also have access to internal and state-sponsored training as well as reduced tuition for state-supported courses at all State of South Dakota academic institutions.
