Surgical ICU - Trauma Neuro Surgery

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Level trauma Center, Falls, GSW, blunt trauma, MVAs, trauma patients over age of . Ex-lap, crani, speciality neuro-surgery cases. CVA, status post-TPA, COVID, sepsis, ARDS.
Experience or 'Must have' skills
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetatol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin
Charge Nurse Yes, do not take patients
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios no, only used for sitters and as Health Unit Secretary
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house Yes, /
RT in ICU / Yes
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Benette , Vs Bipap, Airvo
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No monitor techs on unit, RN required to intrepret own strip. Client monitors
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Self scheduling. Manager may need to balance shifts for unit needs.
Weekend Requirements weekend shifts in a week schedule, Nightshift weekends are Friday - Saturday. Dayshift are Saturday - Sunday
Holiday Requirements May have holiday off in an assisgnment
Is there a call or standby requirement? No additional call/standby shifts required. However, may be low censused up to times per contract depending on unit needs
Floating Requirements Float to tele with a : or : ratio as needed
