Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor, operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. We pride ourselves in being a family-oriented organization with a goal of upholding the safety and health of our number one asset, our employees.Position OverviewThe Plant C Operator will work closely with the Plant, Maintenance, and Management Teams to ensure consistent and high-level functionality off all aspects of operations with direction provided by his/her direct manager to minimize downtime and optimize production.The ideal candidate has experience with processing, loading, shipping, and a thorough understanding of all areas related to asphalt work. They should be able to address issues, monitor standards at the plant, and ensure the safe practices of all employees.Key Responsibilities Train in the facility processes; learn and understand the Standard Operating Procedures of the facilityLoad and unload tank trucks carrying liquid asphaltGauge above ground storage tanks which requires climbing to the 40 foot heightsPerform facility rounds, and record specific data using an iPadOperate a sit down forklift, unloading shipping containersBarge loading and unloading Participate in safety meetings and required training throughout the yearAdhering to all safety procedures, ensuring proper personal protective equipment usage, and reporting any safety concerns. Collaboration - Working closely with management to identify and address issues impacting the facility and production. Before departing work each day, ensure that the area is neat, clean and orderly; all equipment is stored in their proper place and locked up appropriately for safety.Additional responsibilities as may be assumed or assigned as needed in support of our company's effort to achieve client loyalty.QualificationsAbility to lift 50+ pounds of weight chest heightAbility to climb to heights of 40 feetForklift operation experience, a plusAbility to work in a demanding, fast-paced environmentPhysical ability to work outdoors in various conditions and stand for extended periods of timeMust be organized with a detail-oriented mindsetMust be positive, friendly, and professionalAbility to work well with others in a group or one-on-one settingPromote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.Knowledge/Skill RequirementsIndustrial experience - Previous experience working in an industrial setting, preferably within the asphalt field.Technical skills - Ability to use equipment, hand tools, and power tools effectivelyMechanical aptitude - Basic understanding of mechanical elements.Problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and strategize with management and maintenance teams to implement solutions.Safety awareness - Commitment to following all safety protocols and regulations.Ability to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.Must demonstrate professional communication in reaching out to employees and managers for needed documentsWillingness to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as they ariseExhibit excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize various tasks and complete them in a timely mannerAble to perform duties independentlyWorking knowledge of aggregate plants and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferredFamiliarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations, a plusHigh School Diploma or GED preferred, but not requiredWorking ConditionsBe available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as requiredSome travel may be required as our operations span throughout TexasWork will be performed in both a general warehouse environment as well as a construction site environment, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.Must be able to move over rough terrain on project sitesMust comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.Proper PPE is required at all times.Requires periodic participation and attendance at company events and meetingsBenefitsThis position is FULL TIMEThe pay structure for this role will be based on competitive hourly rateThis position will qualify for the employee benefit programComprehensive medical, dental, and disability benefits programs401k retirement planEmployee Stock Purchase Program The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
