Job description
AIM Heat Exchangers, a family-owned manufacturer of custom shell and tube heat exchangers seeks a full-time Machinist/Lathe Operator to work 1st shift.
Job Summary: Set up and operate a variety of equipment to machine parts according to specifications. Perform a variety of operations in the machine shop.
Essential Duties:
- Set up and operate machines such as lathes, drills, saws, and mills
- Primary duty will be lathe operator
- Read blueprints to determine product specifications and material needed
- Perform all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards
- Marking machined parts with heat numbers for material traceability
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to receive instructions and coordinate activities
- Follow all safety procedures
- Drive a forklift to transport material
- Operate overhead crane
- Perform minor machine repair such as oiling or cleaning machines
- Other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Knowledge of machines and tools including drilling, tapping and layout
- Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers
- Strong math skills including ability to convert decimals to fractions
- Able to read and understand blueprints
- Experience in working with different types of materials
- Hold tight tolerances
- Documentation with attention to details and accuracy
- Ability to operate CNC machines a plus
- The ideal candidate will be a team player with the desire to learn and increase their value to the company over time. Must be willing to perform a variety of functions.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of machining experience
- Some personal tools may be required
Certifications:
- Forklift operation
- Overhead crane operation
- NYS driver's license
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 3 years experience
