Position Description
The Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine is seeking a pediatric nephrologist to join our growing and diverse academic faculty of 9 members. This position is for a research-intensive recruit, either in basic or clinical science research, at any experience level, with commensurate protected time and research resources.
Being one of three Pediatric Centers of Excellence in Nephrology, the division has a thriving research program with NIH-funded investigators and NIH-supported site investigators in the areas of medication adherence improvement, chronic kidney disease and glomerulonephritis, plus other research projects in the areas of CRRT and photopheresis. The adjacent adult nephrology division has a long-standing basic science interest in renal development, single cell sequencing and kidney cell atlas. Washington University is consistently ranked in the top 5 of medical schools for NIH funding.
The Pediatric Nephrology division has consistently been listed in the US News and World Report top 20 Pediatric Nephrology programs. Faculty members practice at the attached St Louis Children’s Hospital (ranked in all 10 specialties in 2021 US News and World Report), which is a part of the very large Barnes-Jewish Care health care system. The Wash U Medical Center campus is located next to the 1371 acre Forest Park, one of the largest public parks in the country. Compensation will be commensurate to rank and experience.
The greater St Louis area offers many hidden gems, including world class (and free) museums, numerous theaters, 3 professional sports teams, and plentiful outdoor activities. St Louis has its own hallmark cuisine. Cost of living is very affordable.
