About the Role:
We are seeking reliable and detail-oriented Heat Treat Operators to support the production of precision metal components by operating and monitoring industrial heat treatment equipment. This role is responsible for performing heat treatment processes that achieve required material hardness, strength, and metallurgical properties while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a manufacturing or heat treating environment and understands the importance of process control, precision, and consistency. This position plays a critical role in ensuring finished components meet customer specifications and manufacturing quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor industrial heat treat furnaces and related processing equipment.
- Set and regulate furnace temperature controls according to production specifications and process requirements.
- Visually inspect parts prior to processing to ensure they are free of foreign material, contamination, or defects.
- Position components on racks, fixtures, or baskets to ensure proper heat treatment and airflow.
- Load and unload furnaces safely while following established production procedures.
- Monitor heating cycles to ensure parts reach the required temperature and remain in the furnace for the specified cycle time.
- Verify process parameters and document production data accurately.
- Inspect completed parts for quality, appearance, and compliance with manufacturing standards.
- Maintain accurate production records, furnace logs, and quality documentation.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report equipment issues or maintenance needs.
- Follow all safety procedures related to high-temperature equipment, material handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient workflow and product quality.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while supporting Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in heat treating, metal processing, or industrial production.
- Experience operating industrial furnaces or heat treatment equipment is preferred.
- Ability to read work instructions, production travelers, and manufacturing documentation.
- Understanding of basic metallurgy and heat treatment processes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to accurately monitor process parameters and maintain production records.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify equipment abnormalities.
- Ability to safely lift, load, and move materials throughout the production process.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift and occasional overtime as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in metal manufacturing, machining, bearing manufacturing, or precision component production.
- Familiarity with hardness testing, material properties, or metallurgical inspection processes.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience using production reporting or ERP systems.
- Technical or vocational training in manufacturing or industrial technology.
