Overview
As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you’ll support long‑term aerospace test sustainment programs by developing, rehosting, and maintaining software and hardware used in defense and aerospace test environments. This role blends hands‑on lab work, embedded software development, and cross‑functional engineering collaboration to keep critical test systems operating reliably for years to come.
Responsibilities
- TPS development — Develop, modify, and maintain Test Program Set (TPS) code for aerospace and defense sustainment projects.
- TPS rehosting — Implement existing test specifications on updated or newly developed test platforms.
- Hardware–software integration — Integrate embedded hardware and software in a lab environment, performing hands‑on testing, troubleshooting, and system validation.
- Cross‑functional collaboration — Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to resolve complex technical issues.
- Full lifecycle participation — Support hardware definition, code development, integration, and verification across multiple concurrent projects.
- C# development — Use Microsoft Visual Studio to build and maintain C# and related software components for test systems.
- LabVIEW/TestStand execution — Execute and interpret tests using LabVIEW and TestStand frameworks, ensuring accurate implementation of test procedures.
- Test analysis — Analyze results, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to improve system performance and reliability.
- Project support — Balance short‑term tasks and multi‑year sustainment efforts while meeting project milestones.
- Documentation — Produce clear, accurate documentation for designs, procedures, and test results to support ongoing sustainment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Embedded hardware and test systems experience, including application of electrical engineering principles.
- Hands‑on lab integration, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in C# and Microsoft Visual Studio for test and embedded software development.
- Experience with LabVIEW and TestStand, including reading and executing existing frameworks.
- Familiarity with TPS development or sustainment in aerospace or defense environments.
- Strong analytical skills and structured problem‑solving capabilities.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
