Schedule: This is a full-time position with a work schedule from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. You will enjoy a stable routine while contributing to exciting projects.

YOUR DAY AS A CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

In your role as a Construction Estimator, you will engage in planning meetings to determine the types of projects to bid and establish effective bidding strategies. You may attend pre-bid meetings and walk-throughs to gain a comprehensive understanding of the projects. As part of your responsibilities, you will assess whether to self-perform tasks or subcontract work and solicit quotations from appropriate vendors and suppliers, including DBE/MBE/WBE/SBE subcontractors. You will review plans, specifications, and Geotech reports, performing or coordinating quantity takeoffs and cost estimates while analyzing alternative construction methods. Participating in bid reviews with the Department Manager will allow you to collaborate closely with the leadership team. After the award, you will review preliminary schedules and transfer estimate-related information to the project team, identifying high-risk activities and integrating safety-related costs into your estimates.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

• 7+ years of construction experience, preferably in commercial, civil, and bridge construction
• 5+ years of experience estimating and bidding heavy civil work
• Familiarity with public bid processes
• Competency in using Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling software
• Ability to read and understand plans for grading and drainage, paving, foundations, and off-site roadways
• Skills in performing takeoffs and understanding heavy equipment performance specifications
• Decision-making skills and the ability to work in a high-production environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with strong time management abilities
• Attention to detail with the capacity to recognize discrepancies
• Planning and negotiation skills
• Must live within 1 hour of the job location

A valid driver's license and experience with B2W software, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), and Trimble Business Center are a plus! If you're a veteran, please apply! We would love to have you.
