Yard Goat Driver

Summary/Objective:

• In this role, the Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard, positioning them for loading and unloading, and ensuring smooth flow of operations.
• This role is critical to maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse and distribution environment.

Essential Functions:

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Safely move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and designated yard locations.
• Ensure trailers are correctly aligned for loading and unloading.
• Follow all safety protocols and company policies, including use of PPE and adherence to DOT regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard goat and report any mechanical issues.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements using yard management systems or manual logs.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff, forklift operators, and dispatch to ensure timely trailer availability.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and basic troubleshooting of the yard goat vehicle.
• Report any maintenance needs or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, drivers, and supervisors to ensure seamless operations.
• Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, including loading, unloading, and material handling.
