Cloud Architect - Hybrid

We are seeking a seasoned Cloud Architect to help lead and serve as the SME from an operational capacity involving strategic decisions with consolidation efforts, application and server migration efforts for an acquired company into their main environment. This will be a great opportunity to be the SME in an organization and lead their migration effort as an architect. Migration will include Many Servers and infrastructure to MS Azure. Serve as a resource in Cloud enterprise journey encompassing ongoing architecture, operational optimization, gaps, planning, configuration, implementation, testing, operation and documentation of the enterprise IT systems hosting environment. This position will be a hybrid work schedule in Chattanooga, TN. Open and flexible to those who live in Atlanta, Nashville, Huntsville, and Knoxville.

The role of this person would be to come in and assist / lead them through their cloud migration from on prem to azure cloud (mandatory experience). Along with assisting with the migration, continue to help configure, and maintain servers for optimal performance, availability, and security.

1. 5+ yrs experience with Azure Cloud Infrastructure and Azure Management : Design, implement, and manage the company's cloud infrastructure on Azure, ensuring scalability, high availability, best practices, and security of services. On prem to azure migration experience required, this is the most important skill to have.

2.) 5+ yrs experience within both Linux and Windows environments from provisioning new windows / Linux servers, upgrading servers, patching, troubleshooting along with general maintenance (although main focus is Azure implementation and migration).

• Server Deployment and Migrations : Lead the setup, configuration, and migration of on-premises servers and services to the Azure cloud platform, following best practices and minimizing downtime.

3.) 5+ yrs of Practical hands-on operational experience with VMware vSphere VCenter 6.7 to7.0 to Azure.

• perform Azure site recovery, and technology migration efforts from an Ops perspective.

Very nice to have :

PowerShell, shell, python, Terraform, or ansible Automation experience.

Well-versed in Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, etc.).

Responsibilities :

System Administration : Oversee the installation, configuration, Patch Management, and maintenance of servers and systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.

Network Management : Manage and troubleshoot the company's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) to ensure seamless connectivity for users and systems.

Containerization : Implement and manage containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to enable the seamless deployment and scaling of applications.

Security Management : Implement security measures to safeguard the company's infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and data encryption.

Network and Security in Azure : Configure and maintain networking components in Azure, such as virtual networks, subnets, security groups, and firewalls, to ensure a secure and efficient network environment.

Backup and Disaster Recovery : Develop and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies for Azure-based resources to ensure business continuity and data integrity.

Performance Optimization : Monitor and fine-tune the performance of Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage, and databases, to achieve optimal efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Identity and Access Management : Set up and manage Azure Active Directory (AAD) to control access to cloud resources and ensure compliance with security policies.

Monitoring and Alerting : Implement monitoring solutions for Azure resources, configure alerts, and proactively respond to any issues that may arise.

Scripting and Automation : Utilize scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to automate routine tasks, deployments, and configurations in the Azure environment.

Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation for Azure infrastructure, migration processes, and configuration details to facilitate knowledge sharing and support future projects.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience as an Azure Cloud Infrastructure / Server Administrator or in a similar role, with experience in server administration or infrastructure management.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including Virtual Machines, Azure SQL Database, Azure App Service, etc.
• Experience in planning and executing successful server migrations from on-premises to Azure cloud environments.
• Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing containers.
• Familiarity with networking concepts and Azure networking services (Azure Virtual Network, VPN Gateway, Network Security Groups, etc.).
• Understanding of security principles and best practices in an Azure cloud environment, including identity and access management.
• Solid knowledge of server hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, etc.) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols, including TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.
• Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automating routine tasks in both Azure and server administration environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on providing efficient solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team and interact with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects and tasks, and effectively manage multiple responsibilities while adhering to established timelines.
