The Division of Medical Genetics at HenryFord Health System (HFHS) has an active and well-integrated clinical geneticsservice which currently includes reproductive genetics and cancer genetics. TheDivision includes clinical genetics services and the maternal serum screeningprogram which serves the health system and surrounding area. We expect growthin cancer genetics with the expansion of the Henry Ford Cancer Institute. Withthe implementation and expansion of the Henry Ford Precision Medicine Program,the Genetics Division will be part of systemwide initiatives to grow andemphasize the importance of genetics throughout clinical care. The idealcandidate will be excited to work on building and growing clinical geneticservices for the health system.
HFHS has a Laboratory Genetics andGenomics postdoctoral training program. In addition, there are teachingopportunities for Wayne State University Genetics Residency/Fellowship trainees,genetic counselors, and rotating residents at Henry Ford. Basic science andclinic research opportunities are available. An academic appointment isavailable through the Wayne State University Center for Molecular Medicine andGenetics. The Henry Ford Hospital Genetics Division works closely with thePathology Department which includes molecular and cytogenetics laboratories. Wesupport the Henry Ford Health System ( and other hospitalsand clinics throughout Southeast Michigan. HFHS is an equal opportunityemployer.
Presently, we have one MD geneticist and sixgenetic counselors. We plan to expand the division by hiring additional geneticcounselors and geneticists. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated candidate.
Candidates for the position must have completed an ACGME-accredited clinical genetics residency and be board certified or an active candidate for the ABMG clinical genetics examination.
