Job description
South Carolina Habitat is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team.In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the financial health of our organization, which is dedicated to building affordable housing and improving communities across South Carolina.As an Accounting Clerk, your primary responsibilities will include processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with month-end close processes.You will be working closely with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and help facilitate the smooth operation of our accounting department.Strong analytical skills and a passion for community service are essential, as you will be contributing to a mission-driven organization that values transparency and accountability in all its financial dealings.You will also have opportunities for professional growth and development while working in a supportive environment that fosters collaboration and teamwork.If you are organized, proactive, and committed to making a difference, we encourage you to apply and join us in our mission to provide homes for those in need throughout South Carolina.ResponsibilitiesProcess and record accounts payable and receivable transactionsPrepare and maintain financial reports and recordsAssist with monthly and annual financial closingsCoordinate with vendors and clients for payment inquiriesManage petty cash and ensure accurate recordingAssist in budgeting and forecasting activitiesSupport internal and external audits as requiredRequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree in accounting or finance is preferredProven experience as an accounting clerk or similar roleProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office SuiteStrong numerical and analytical skillsAttention to detail and accuracy in financial data entryExcellent organizational and time management abilitiesStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenBenefitsHealth Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity).
