Job description
The Ophthalmic Technician participates in the care of patients in a clinic setting. As an Ophthalmic Technician you will greet patients and explain what they should expect during their appointment. An Ophthalmic Technician escorts the patient to an exam room and performs diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures prior to physician seeing them such as visual acuity, tonometry and lensometry. Assures appropriate notes and updates patient chart/records accurately. Maintains clinic environment including sterilization cleaning.Schedule:Monday-Friday 7:15-5:00pm (variable start times within this window); Rotating Tuesday late night shift in Stow/Kent locationsWhat you will be doingInteracts with patients to accurately gather information and enter it into our electronic medical records system;Proactively engages patients in communicating what to expect with the visit and continues to communicate delays or any other changes with the patient.Initiates and performs documentation of the patient's chief complaint, present illness, and captures past medical history.Accurately records all information in EMR system according to established standards and physician requirementsConducts tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyesAssists with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections and laser treatments, in an exam room or treatment room, including preparing patients for sterile procedures.Educates patients regarding the administration of medications, and pre and post operative instructions, as directed by physicians.Readily scribes for physicianSecures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential, following all HIPAA requirements.Utilizes effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate any dissatisfied patientsDemonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms & ocular medicationsStay current with the latest technologies and medications and be able to answer general patient questionsAssists team members and completes other special projects as requested.What you knowRequiredHigh school diploma or GED equivalentValid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicleAbility to stand or sit for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbsDesiredElectronic Medical Records (EMR) experienceKnowledge of medical terminologyProficient in all OT I and OT II duties; has more than 2 years of experienceTypically has 3-5 + years of ExperienceEligible for COA, COT, or COMTWhat you will receiveCompetitive wagesRobust benefit package including medical, dental, life and disability (short- and long-term) insuranceGenerous paid time off (PTO) programSeven (7) company paid holidays401(k) retirement plan with company matchUniform reimbursementAn organization focused on People, Passion, Purpose and ProgressInspirational cultureAbout Midwest Vision PartnersMidwest Vision Partners was founded in 2019 to build a premier eye care platform in partnership with Alpine Investors, a San Francisco-based private equity firm.
