JOB SUMMARY

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineering Specialist to serve as a technical authority and quality enabler within production operations. This role is an elite individual contributor recognized for deep technical expertise in electronics and electro-mechanical repair who elevates quality, consistency, and technical discipline through hands-on leadership, mentorship, and standardization.

Operating within the Quality Engineering function, the Quality Engineering Specialist strengthens technical capability at the point of execution by resolving complex escalations, improving first-pass success, and preventing repeat failures. Through coaching, guided problem solving, and partnership with shop leadership and training resources, this role accelerates technician development, reinforces quality standards, and reduces quality-related risk such as warranty exposure and unnecessary scrap.

This position is ideal for a highly skilled technical professional who wants to lead through expertise, influence outcomes beyond their own bench, and play a visible role in building a stronger, more capable operation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Advanced Technical Execution

  • Perform complex bench-level electronic and electro-mechanical diagnostics, refurbishment, and repair using advanced troubleshooting, rework, calibration, and validation techniques.
  • Serve as the final technical escalation point for challenging, high-risk, or non-obvious repair issues.
  • Diagnose systemic and intermittent failure modes, applying structured root cause analysis to drive repeatable, preventive solutions.
  • Support resolution of complex quality issues that materially impact repair success, warranty exposure, or repeat failures.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as a technical mentor and coach, providing hands-on guidance, structured knowledge transfer, and real-time troubleshooting support to technicians.
  • Develop technicians’ diagnostic reasoning, technical confidence, and adherence to quality standards, rather than simply providing answers.
  • Support onboarding and ramp-up of newly hired technicians by accelerating skill development and technical independence.
  • Act as a trusted technical presence within daily operations, reinforcing a culture of learning, accountability, and craftsmanship.
  • Contribute to technician engagement and retention by supporting skill growth and professional development.

Subject Matter Expertise & Escalation Support

  • Function as the recognized Subject Matter Expert for Radwell products, platforms, or technologies.
  • Provide technical decision support for product performance viability, BER determinations, and warranty-related evaluations in partnership with Quality Engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Operations teams to resolve repeat failures, warranty drivers, and systemic technical risks.
  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of assigned product families, emerging failure modes, and evolving production techniques.

Training, Standardization & Knowledge Systems

  • Contribute to the development, refinement, and maintenance of work instructions, repair procedures, diagnostic guides, and training materials.
  • Support formal and informal training initiatives, including development plans that strengthen technician capability and consistency.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and proactively propose training, documentation, or process improvements
  • Reinforce adoption of standard work to improve quality, predictability, and repeatability across repair operations.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to support daily technical needs, escalation management, and capability planning.
  • Provide technical insight to support corrective actions, continuous improvement initiatives, and prevention-at-the-source efforts.
  • Participate in improvement activities focused on quality, consistency, cycle time reduction, and waste elimination, with customer impact in mind.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices to strengthen technical capability across operations.

KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS

  • Return Warranty Rate Target: Meet or exceed established quality thresholds
  • Beyond Economic Repair (BER) Rate Target: Maintain or improve defined BER standards within product domain
  • Technician Capability Development Target: Develop and coach ≥ 80% of technicians to Level 3 certification or higher within assigned product area
  • Technician Retention Improvement Target: Measurable improvement in retention within supported teams
  • Average Daily Sales per Full-Time Employee Target: Sustain or exceed defined productivity benchmarks
  • Technical Escalation Resolution Rate Target: High first-pass resolution with minimal repeat issues
  • Repeat Failure Reduction Target: Trending downward for assigned product families

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced experience in electronics and electro-mechanical technical / repair work in a production or service environment
  • Demonstrated mastery of complex diagnostics, schematic interpretation, and advanced rework techniques
  • Proven ability to mentor, train, and influence technicians at multiple skill levels
  • Strong understanding of product economics, warranty impact, and quality metrics
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with coaching and operational support

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Expert-level electronic troubleshooting and repair capability
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and knowledge-transfer skills
  • Root cause analysis and failure mode identification
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
  • High standards for quality, safety, and workmanship
  • Continuous improvement mindset with business awareness
