Location: Virginia Beach, VA
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead one large project or multiple smaller heavy civil construction projects. This high-visibility leadership role is responsible for financial, schedule, quality, and safety objectives while overseeing project teams and collaborating closely with superintendents, owners, subcontractors, and vendors. This is a strategic opportunity to grow your leadership impact in challenging and innovative heavy civil projects.
Lead the planning, scheduling, cost control, and overall management of projects to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
Coordinate labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials with the superintendent to optimize means, methods, and project schedule.
Maintain budgets, cost codes, forecasts, and project reporting.
Oversee contract administration, billing, and timely resolution of claims and change orders.
Direct pre-job planning and participate in lessons learned to improve project execution.
Ensure all projects meet quality control and safety standards.
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Assist estimating staff as needed and support preconstruction activities.
Mentor and develop assigned Project Managers and Engineers to enhance project delivery capabilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 10 years of field experience in Demolition, Heavy Civil, Heavy Highway, or Marine/Pile Driving construction.
Proven expertise in project budget and schedule management, with experience in estimating preferred.
Design-Build experience is a plus.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including client presentations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with P6, Suretrak, and HCSS preferred.
Ability to perform under high-stress conditions and lead teams effectively.
Ability to carry tools and equipment, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand/walk for extended periods.
Frequent work on uneven ground, with steel-toed boots and approved PPE required.
Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds and work in varying outdoor conditions.
Lead challenging and high-profile heavy civil projects in Virginia Beach and surrounding areas.
