AECOM is seeking a Project Manager to support major rail and transit capital programs in the Bay Area, including direct engagement on projects for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). This role is critical to the successful coordination and delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and requires prior experience working on BART projects.

The Project Manager will guide project execution across all phases—from early planning through procurement, construction, integration, and closeout. This position requires strong communication, leadership, organizational capability, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams in a highly regulated transit environment.

This is an important position interfacing directly with BART, state and local agencies, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary technical teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management discipline and the ability to maintain scope, schedule, and budget while effectively managing relationships and ensuring coordinated delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary teams to meet project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Oversee project processes and execution plans, ensuring smooth coordination among technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate internal and external meetings, workshops, and stakeholder communications.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with BART and other partner agencies.
  • Support reviews of project deliverables to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Provide oversight of consultant and contractor activities and help resolve project challenges.
  • Manage staff assignments, team workflows, and task organization for rail/transit contracts.
  • Support proposal development and pursuit planning for rail/transit professional services.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid‑level staff to support their professional growth and effective project execution.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with contractors, consultants, and technical teams to ensure well‑coordinated project outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience.
  • Prior experience working on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) projects is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, project management, business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in project leadership, team coordination, client service, and program support for large, complext transportation/transit initiatives.
  • Experience working with public agencies and navigating formal project delivery processes.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and client‑facing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize complex workflows and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience tracking budgets, schedules, and project performance metrics.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to support resolution of delivery challenges.
  • Ability to provide quality oversight across project management or program management tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Primavera P6, and standard collaboration tools.
