Forrest Paint Co. is a growth focused, family-owned leader in premium architectural, Industrial & specialty coatings, serving professional contractors, architects, designers, property managers, and facility owners throughout the Pacific Northwest. With a reputation built on quality, innovation, and long-term customer partnerships, we deliver solutions that protect, perform, and elevate every project.
We are looking for a driven and customer-focused Architectural Sales Representative to join our team, build strong relationships, develop new business, and grow sales within the territory.
Location: Eugene, Oregon (Territory-Based Role)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Quarterly Compensation Plan
EXPERIENCE IN PAINT? GREAT. NO EXPERIENCE? KEEP READING.
Our ideal candidate may already have experience in paint, coatings, construction, architectural products, or building materials. If that's you, we'd love to talk. But coatings experience is not required.
We're willing to invest significant time and resources into training the right person from the ground up. What matters most to us is what you bring to the role: drive, coachability, curiosity, accountability, and a genuine focus on the customer.
We're looking for a go-getter who is hungry to build a territory, willing to prospect for new business, excited to develop relationships, and motivated by turning their efforts into sales growth.
You need to be curious enough to ask questions, humble enough to say "I don't know yet," and driven enough to go find the answer.
WE'LL TEACH YOU COATINGS
You don't need to walk through our doors knowing the difference between an acrylic, alkyd, epoxy, or urethane.- We'll teach you.
Your training will be hands-on and immersive. You'll learn our products, coating systems, substrates, surface preparation, application methods, technical data sheets, common coating failures, and how to diagnose customer needs.
We're not training you to memorize a catalog. We're training you to become a technical resource our customers trust.
That requires coachability. You'll receive feedback, you'll be challenged to explain why you're making a recommendation, and sometimes you'll be asked to go back, verify the technical data, and look at the problem again.
If that excites you rather than frustrates you, you may be exactly who we're looking for.
BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE - THIS IS SALES.
We're looking for someone with drive. Someone willing to pick up the phone, walk through a contractor's door, visit a jobsite, attend networking events, develop new relationships, follow leads, uncover opportunities, and ask for the business. You'll be expected to build a pipeline, develop a territory, create new opportunities, and drive profitable sales growth. But how we generate that growth matters. At Forrest Technical Coatings, we don't want to be just another paint store. Our advantage is technical knowledge + exceptional customer experience.
We ask questions before giving answers. We use technical data rather than guessing. We recommend the right product and the right amount for the application - even when that means a smaller sale today. We solve problems. And when we don't know something, we don't bluff. We find the answer. That's how we earn trust, retain customers, and build long-term sales growth.
YOU MAY BE A GREAT FIT IF:
You're competitive and motivated by growth.
You're a self-starter who actively creates new opportunities.
You genuinely enjoy talking to people and building relationships.
You're comfortable prospecting, asking for the business, and hearing "no."
You're curious and enjoy understanding how things work.
You take feedback well and adjust your approach.
You ask questions instead of making assumptions.
You follow through on what you promise and take accountability when something goes wrong.
You care about getting the answer right, not simply having an answer.
You want customers to see you as a trusted resource, not simply their salesperson.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Coatings experience is preferred, but drive, character, curiosity, and coachability are required.
If you're already an experienced coatings salesperson, we want to hear from you.
If you've never sold a gallon of paint but you're a driven salesperson, relationship builder, problem solver, or natural go-getter who's ready to immerse yourself in a technical industry, we want to hear from you too.
We'll provide the training. You bring the drive.
