Job description

NPI Quality Control Inspector

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying the quality of enclosures throughout the manufacturing process. This role ensures that all products meet internal standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements before they are approved for shipment or further assembly. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of inspection tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections during prototype, pilot, and new product builds to verify conformance with applicable requirements.
  • Use measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to verify product specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and applicable quality standards.
  • Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances, deviations, and quality concerns to Engineering, Production, Quality, and NPI team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot quality issues and support root cause analysis and corrective actions during NPI builds.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, quality documentation, and findings from prototype, pilot, and new product builds.
  • Support process improvements and communicate quality-related lessons learned identified during NPI activities.
  • Support the transition of established inspection requirements and quality expectations from NPI into regular production.
  • Ensure inspection activities are performed in accordance with ISO 9001 and other applicable quality requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing applicable inspection data and documentation.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized inspection area.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality control or inspection experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency in the use of inspection tools and measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to clearly communicate quality concerns.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical training in quality, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Previous experience supporting prototype, pilot, or new product builds within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience collaborating with Engineering and Production teams to identify and resolve quality issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and metal materials.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in accordance with applicable work area, job task, and company safety requirements.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend shifts may be required based on production needs.
