Position: Network Engineer

Location: Tallahassee, FL 32399

Job Summary
- Configure, deploy, and administer firewalls (Palo Alto, Checkpoint), migrate firewall rules, and manage VPNs (Global Protect) to ensure secure network operations.
- Work with critical network infrastructure components, including Next Gen Firewalls, VPNs, log collectors, and cloud network infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain technical and security documentation following NIST guidelines.
- Lead and manage IT projects, providing data administration and project management support as needed.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures, segmentation strategies, access controls, and encryption technologies.
- Develop and enforce enterprise security policies, standards, and technical controls in alignment with industry and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct security risk assessments, monitor for cybersecurity threats, and respond to security incidents.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging network and security technologies to enhance infrastructure reliability, security, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security issues, providing advanced technical support and consultation to IT and business stakeholders.
- Guide and mentor junior staff, establish network engineering standards and best practices, and lead technical evaluations and solution implementations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams (architecture, cybersecurity, cloud, database, application, etc.) to deliver integrated technology solutions.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and disaster recovery requirements.
- Monitor and report on network performance and security metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with NIST and other relevant security frameworks; prioritize protection of sensitive systems and data.
- Demonstrate strong communication, customer service, decision-making, flexibility, leadership, and problem-solving skills within a team environment.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 10 years of combined IT and security experience, including systems analysis, application development, and database administration.
- 3 5 years of experience with NIST-based information security tools; preference for Palo Alto or Checkpoint product experience.
- Proficiency with schematic diagramming tools for infrastructure mapping.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking, cybersecurity, firewalls, VPNs, cloud infrastructure, and security monitoring.
- Preferred certifications: PCNSE, CISSP, CCNP, CCIE.
