Civil Project EngineerLocation: Houston, TX Position Overview Join our partner firm, Kuo & Associates (KUO), as a Project Engineer (EIT / early-career PE) and support the design and delivery of key infrastructure and capital improvement projects across the Greater Houston area. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including paving and drainage, water and sanitary utilities, roadway design, traffic control plans, and site development, with a focus on water resources and roadway engineering.The Project Engineer will assist with engineering design, plan production, cost estimates, and project coordination, ensuring projects meet applicable codes, standards, and timelines. This role will collaborate closely with engineers, EITs, CAD drafters, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies, while supporting permitting, plan approvals, and technical project deliverables.Candidates must be local to the Houston area. Together, we are building the future, one bold idea at a time.Follow us on LinkedIn -> Kuo & AssociatesLearn more about us -> Kuo & Associates Key Responsibilities:Assist in the design and development of civil engineering plans for projects including paving and drainage, water and sanitary utilities, roadway design, traffic control plans, and site development.Support the preparation of engineering calculations, technical reports, construction documents, and cost estimates.Develop and update CAD drawings and plan sets in coordination with engineers and CAD drafters.Coordinate with internal project teams, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies to support project progress and approvals.Assist with permitting, plan review processes, and obtaining necessary agency approvals.Ensure project deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.Participate in project meetings and coordination efforts with multidisciplinary teams.Provide technical support during design and project execution to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.Assist with reviewing plans and specifications for quality control and consistency.Support senior engineers and project managers with additional project tasks as needed.Skills and Qualifications:Minimum Bachelor Degree in Civil EngineeringMinimum 4 to 5 years of relevant experienceEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire; early-career PE candidates encouraged to apply.1–5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design.Experience supporting projects related to water resources, drainage, and roadway design.Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D and experience preparing engineering plan sets.Experience in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMSWorking knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards and permitting processes.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical design skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines in a collaborative environment.Excellent communication and coordination skills when working with project teams, clients, and agencies.Must be local to the Houston area.
