Position Information Job Title Assistant Professor of Technology and Innovation Management Department Management Essential Functions The Department of Management in the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Technology and Innovation Management to begin Fall 2026. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in cybercrime and technology management. Current and future undergraduate and MBA programs require sustained coverage in strategy, innovation, emerging technology, and technology leadership to meet Nebraska’s workforce needs and align with institutional priorities in digital transformation and economic development.

The rapid growth of AI, cybersecurity threats, data-driven decision-making, and digital platforms has reshaped organizational strategy across industries. Employers increasingly expect graduates to understand the strategic implications of emerging technologies, cyber risk, and digital governance. The new hire will teach core undergraduate and MBA courses while developing specialized electives that strengthen UNO’s distinctiveness in technology-focused business education and support interdisciplinary collaboration in cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and public administration.

Beyond instruction, this faculty member will advance the College’s research profile in technology management, cybercrime, and innovation strategy. A focused research agenda in these areas will enhance external funding opportunities, industry partnerships, and policy engagement while reinforcing UNO’s leadership within the NU System. The new hire will support long-term capacity building through sustained scholarship, grant activity, curriculum development, and student mentorship. This hire will position CBA as a leader in technology-driven organizational security education.

Work Schedule Additional Duties

• Teach core undergraduate and graduate courses while developing specialized electives in technology-focused business education.
• Maintain an active research agenda in the Technology and Innovation Management or related fields that support AACSB scholarly academic (SA) qualification.
• Engage with interdisciplinary initiatives, including opportunities to collaborate with the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Franchising (CIEF), UNeTech, UNO’s university-affiliated innovation and technology commercialization partner, and the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center (NCITE), among others.
• Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.
• Support UNO’s metropolitan mission through community partnerships, applied research, and engagement with regional industry.

Required Qualifications

• Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. degree in business administration, Management, Strategy, Leadership, Innovation, MIS, cybersecurity, or a closely related field, with an emphasis in information systems, technology and innovation management, from an accredited institution (AACSB accreditation is preferred).
• Evidence of potential for high-quality scholarly research.
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Research interests aligned with aligned with technology and innovation management, digital transformation, information security or related contemporary topics.
• Experience or interest in collaborating with industry, startups, innovation ecosystems, or applied research partners.
• Ability to teach in multiple modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online) as needed.
• Experience contributing to high-impact student experiences, such as capstone projects, consulting engagements, or experiential learning.
• Experience in course / curriculum innovation.
• Prior involvement with innovation or digital transformation or potential/willingness to do so.
