Westport, MA | On Call Animal Control Officer
Do you enjoy working outdoors, helping animals, and serving your community? We are hiring a Part-Time on Call Animal Control Officer to join the Board of Health team.
Pay Rate: $23-$25 per hour
What You ll Do:
Respond to calls involving loose, injured, abandoned, or mistreated animals
Enforce local and state animal control laws
Educate residents about responsible pet ownership
Work with police, veterinarians, shelters, and wildlife professionals
Issue citations and keep basic records
Respond to occasional after hours animal emergencies
What We re Looking For:
Someone reliable, calm, and comfortable working independently
A person who cares about animals and public safety
Good communication skills and sound judgment
Prior animal, public safety, or outdoor work experience is helpful but not required
The Work: This role includes outdoor fieldwork in all weather conditions and may involve physically and emotionally challenging situations. Every day is different.
