Machine Operators 1 will need to have the ability to operate or learn to operate (within one year) numerous machines and equipment. The ability to understand verbal and written instructions is essential and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently while adhering to all safety standards and protocols is key. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Lock/out Tag/out protocols consistently and without fail. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Competencies)Ability to read a tape measure.Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches or other specifications.Ability to promote a safe work environment.Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter to meet production demands and schedules.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Basic mechanical knowledge and ability.Knowledge of product, mechanics, shop mathematics, shop processes and procedures.Operate overhead craneBlueprint readingEquipment utilized in Steel Fabrication includes:Electric grinderOxygen/acetylene torchMetal plate shearAngle punch linePress brakePlate rollsRoundo (angle/beam rolls)Plasma burn tablePipe benderSmall parts iron worker punch shearVertical and horizontal marvel band sawCold blade saw Essential Job FunctionsOperates mobile crane equipment and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment.Sets up and operates machines to make production parts to standard shop blueprints.Grinding where grade and type of abrasives are being determined by others.Paints where finish or compliance to specifications are critical.Operates machines that require minimal skills and experience, such as presses, shears, saws, rolls, etc.May perform various warehouse activities involving receiving, special order and inventory.Collaborate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to ensure efficient, safe loading and unloading operations.Ensure safe, timely loading and unloading processes.Guide and train coworkers to promote continuous and efficient performance.Maintains a clean work environment.Performs other duties requiring similar skills and abilities as assigned.Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.Experience with trucks under three tons (i.e. tractors and fork-trucks), mobile crane equipment and overhead cranes. Schedule:10-hour shiftDay shift or 2nd shiftMonday to FridayWORK ENVIRONMENT:Exposure to dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle, grasp or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.Additional effort requirements consist of, but are not limited to, lifting, pushing and pulling material, stairs, and ladders.
