Dental Assistant

Jericho Road Community Health Center is actively seeking a Dental Assistant. This position is full-time, within the Dental Department, at our 1021 Broadway location.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting a practicing dentist at their chair during examination and treatment of patients, including operative and surgical cases
  • Sterilize dental instruments and tools
  • Provide chair-side assistance during dental procedures
  • Regularly and consistently meet quality and patient care standards established by management
  • Provide fantastic customer service while performing exceptional patient care.
  • Oversee sterilization of dental instruments and tools
  • Maintain inventory, and ordering supplies needed to provide patient care
  • Demonstrate proficiency in taking patients dental health histories and vital signs, as well as providing premium patient care
  • Educate and provided patient care in a fast-paced dental office
  • Communicate with the Dental Director regarding proposed changes, developments, and opportunities affecting the dental program
  • Relied upon to organize, sanitize, and maintain patient care areas.
  • Assist the Doctor in patient care, and laboratory duties.
  • Documenting, establishing, and maintaining patients' history in Dentrix system
  • Monthly auditing of inventory supply to replenish and order as needed
  • Verify appointments and direct patients to proper clinical or administrative area
  • Schedule appointments for patients in person or on the telephone
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls
  • Prepare letters, information packets, other correspondences as needed
  • Assisting the patient recruitment and growth of clinic
  • Ensure compliance with industry rules and regulations
  • Attend trainings and educational opportunities to remain current in best dental assistant practices
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA guidelines and take corrective action with the support of management if necessary
  • Follow OSHA regulations and safety requirements
  • Attend monthly all staff meetings and mandatory organizational training

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant Program preferred
  • Prefer at least one year experience in a dental office which included assisting a dentist in patient treatment
  • Previous experience with the Dentrix EDR system preferred
  • Must be caring and compassionate and willing to work with a diverse patient population, treating patients equally regardless of medical condition, income level, race, religion, etc.

Rate: $19.00-$21.00 an hour. Individual compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other position related components.
