Finance Consultant

A Day in the Life

The Finance Consultant role will drive Medtronic's long-range financial planning, lead market benchmarking and reporting, partner directly with Corporate Development on M&A and portfolio strategies, and play a critical role in our annual strategic planning process. You will analyze financial data, build financial models, and develop insights and recommendations to support executive leadership decisioning. This role requires partnership across the organization with various stakeholders, including senior management.

Key responsibilities of a strategic finance consultant include:

  • Financial Analysis: Analyzing financial performance and identifying trends and insights
  • Financial Modeling: Building financial models to support strategic decision-making, forecasting, and scenario analysis
  • Market Analysis: Analyzing and reporting market and competitive performance across key therapies and segments
  • Strategic Planning: Developing and implementing financial strategies to improve the companys financial performance and achieve targeted goals
  • Portfolio Strategy: Partner with Corporate Development team to quantify impact of acquisitions and divestitures, including financial due diligence across the P&L and balance sheet
  • Executive Communication: Preparing and developing key financials and materials for Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and other stakeholders
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with strategy and finance stakeholders across businesses, functions, and regions
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting capabilities, and drive operational efficiency through automation and innovation
  • Minimal travel expectations in this role (<25% required)

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of relevant work experience in Finance and/or Accounting OR 8+ years with an advanced degree

Nice to Have - What You Bring:

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical mindset you can extract insights from complex data and translate them into actionable strategies
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills you make data meaningful and impactful
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized you deliver high-quality work while managing multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • High degree of business acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization
  • Strong independent contributor you are self-motivated and take action with limited oversight
  • Proven Project Leadership you have experience managing cross-functional initiatives, fostering relationships, and delivering results
  • Experience in corporate finance, consulting, FP&A, or a similar analytical role is a plus
  • An MBA or CPA designation is a plus

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $133,600.00 - $200,400.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
