divh2Bookshelver/Processor/h2pUnder the direction of the Circulation Manager and the supervision of the Building Supervisor, the Bookshelver/Processor is responsible for the efficient, thorough and accurate processing, sorting, and shelving of all Library materials at the assigned Library location. Will be required to work evenings and weekend hours as part of the regular work schedule./ppEssential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties as assigned:/pulliProvides excellent customer service by helping staff members and/or patrons locate materials on the shelves or in the processing area./liliAssists in the training of newly hired Bookshelver/Processor staff./liliShares responsibility for prioritizing the daily workflow and efficient operation of the processing area while maintaining a prompt and reliable attendance record./liliPrepares and loads carts for outbound delivery and unloads and sorts materials on inbound delivery carts./liliRetrieves and processes materials returned via the inside and outside drop boxes./liliRetrieves and processes available materials requested electronically and by telephone./liliProcesses materials returned from other Ann Arbor District Library locations./liliProcesses materials requested by and returned from other Michigan eLibrary and Inter-library Loan locations./liliShelves materials and maintains shelving areas in an accurate, neat, and orderly fashion./liliShares responsibility for ensuring circulation readiness of materials by assessing and removing or repairing damaged or mislabeled materials./liliAttends AADL staff and Facilities department meetings as scheduled./liliAssists with inventory, shifting collections, and searching for missing, claims returned and in transit items./liliMaintains a prompt and reliable attendance record./li/ulpMinimum qualifications include:/pulliHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six or more months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Applicant must be 18 or older unless high school diploma or GED has been obtained.)/liliProficiency with Mac and Windows computer systems./liliAbility to file alpha-numerically./liliStrong commitment to excellent public service; helpful, friendly, energetic and adaptable./liliExcellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills./liliInterpersonal and judgment skills necessary to work effectively with Library users and staff./liliAbility to assume responsibility and work neatly, efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision./liliAbility to bend, reach and shelve a full range of shelving units./liliAbility to lift up to 40 pounds./liliAbility to push/pull fully loaded carts and large items from the tools collection./liliAbility to work standing for up to 8 hours a day and to move efficiently between tasks with continued attention to detail./li/ulpPreferred qualifications include:/pulliExperience in a public library and some knowledge of standard public library functions and procedures./liliExperience using a library automated system./li/ul/div
