Job description

Job Opportunity: Laser Operator

A client of ours in Canby is looking to add a Laser Operator to their team. The ideal candidate for this role would have expereince reading tape measures and calipers, understanding material thicknesses and working with different materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate laser equipment, ensuring proper alignment, focal length, and positioning of materials.
  • Calibrate laser systems to maintain accuracy and precision.
  • Monitor machine operation and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Read and use a tape measure and caliper accurately.
  • Understand material thickness and work with a variety of metals.
  • Interpret basic blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work area clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE during operation.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Laser Operator experience.
  • Experience in a steel or metal manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Familiarity with metal materials and thickness.
  • Ability to read measuring tools including tape measure and caliper.
  • Basic computer skills for machine interface and job input.
  • TIG welding experience or weld certifications are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs routinely.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30AM - 3:00PM.
30 minutes OT before or after shift, plus occasional busy-season weekends.
Pay: $21 - $28 per hour DOE.

Duration: This is a temp-to-hire position.
