Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Travel Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Travel Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team at a Skilled Nursing Facility in Salinas, California. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality patient care while experiencing the vibrant Central Coast region. The facility serves a diverse patient population, including individuals requiring skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation. You will work with patients presenting with a wide range of diagnoses, including orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and medically complex conditions, focusing on helping them regain independence and enhance their quality of life. As a key member of the rehabilitation team, you will collaborate closely with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, nursing staff, physicians, and patient families to ensure comprehensive and patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Provide skilled occupational therapy treatments under the direct supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Implement individualized treatment plans to improve Activities of Daily Living (ADL) performance, functional mobility, upper extremity function, cognition, and safety awareness. Accurately document patient evaluations, progress, and discharge summaries using electronic medical records (EMR). Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team on patient progress, goal setting, and discharge planning. Educate patients, caregivers, and facility staff on adaptive equipment, home safety strategies, and functional techniques. Ensure compliance with Medicare, state, and facility documentation and care standards. Participate in care conferences and team meetings as required. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Ability to complete documentation accurately in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, specifically Net Health. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of one year of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting. Experience with a diverse patient population including orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, and medically complex cases. Skills & Competencies Strong clinical skills in implementing occupational therapy interventions for diverse patient populations. Proficiency in utilizing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for comprehensive documentation. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Ability to educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment. Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and a positive, collaborative work ethic. Shift Details Shift: AM, 8-hour shifts. Days per Week: 5 days. Contract Length: 13 weeks. Start Date: July 8, 2026. Call Requirements: Not specified. Weekend Rotations: Not specified. Licensing Requirements Current and unrestricted Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of California, or eligibility to obtain.
