Job Description

Position Summary:

The incumbent assists the academic program team with the development and pilot testing of nutrition education materials for youth and families. This role plans and coordinates pilot testing of educational materials with clientele, including travel as needed, and supports the dissemination of finalized materials through training and other outreach efforts. The incumbent also assists with video production involving participating clientele and coordinates the translation of materials into Spanish following final review and approval of edits and revisions. In addition, the position makes adjustments to educational materials based on feedback from clientele and partnering agencies and coordinates the collection of data from surveys and other evaluation tools. The incumbent collaborates regularly with Extension professionals to develop, monitor, and review educational materials, and assists 4-H professionals with project deliverables and timelines to ensure activities remain within the established scope of work.

The University of California 4-H Youth Development Program (California 4-H) engages youth in reaching their fullest potential while advancing the field of youth development. California 4-H provides meaningful opportunities for all youth and adults to work together to create sustainable community change.

Assist academic program team with development and pilot testing of nutrition education materials for youth and families. This position will support curriculum development. This position will also plan and coordinate efforts to pilot test educational materials with clientele, including travel. The position will also support the dissemination of educational materials to clientele and conduct relevant trainings, as needed.

This position is a limited term appointment that is 75% fixed.

The home department is the CA 4-H State Office. While this position normally is based in Davis, CA, this position is eligible for hybrid flexible work arrangements for applicants living in the State of California at this time. Please note that hybrid flexible work arrangements are subject to change by the University.

Pay Scale: $53,100.00/year to $71,400.00/year

Key Responsibilities:

20%

Assists academic program team with development and pilot testing of nutrition education materials for youth and families. Plans and develop new programs and curriculum and adjust existing resources in a continuing education environment.

10%

Plan and coordinate pilot testing educational materials with clientele, including travel.

10%

Support the dissemination of educational materials to clientele and conduct relevant training, as needed.

5%

Support video production with participating clientele.

5%

Coordinate material translation into Spanish upon final review of edits and revisions.

Make adjustments to developed materials based on feedback from clientele and partnering agency.

Coordinate collection of data from surveys and other evaluation tools.

Collaborate with Extension professionals weekly to develop, monitor and review educational materials.

Requirements:
  • Associate degree in related areas and/ or equivalent experience/training.
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments, i.e.. Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual communication/translation abilities in English and Spanish.
  • Thorough knowledge of and skill in delivering program.

Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • Thorough knowledge of current community educational programs and trends.
  • Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations/courses to meet organizational needs.

Special Conditions of Employment:
  • Must comply with regulatory agency reporting requirements (California's Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act).
  • Authority for committing the financial resources of the University through contracts or agreements.
  • Direct access to and/or responsibility for protected, personal, or other sensitive institutional information, including information on students, faculty, staff, or other University constituents, and IT resources that process, transmit, or store restricted or sensitive institutional information.
  • Direct responsibility for the care, safety, and security of people, including children and minors, or property, including personal and University.
  • Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies.
  • The University reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check. This is a designated position requiring a background check and may require fingerprinting due to the nature of the job responsibilities. Understands that sensitive information should be shared on a limited basis and actively takes steps to limit access to sensitive information to individuals who have legitimate business need to know. Ensure that sensitive information is properly safeguarded. Follow all organizational policies and laws on data protection and privacy. This includes secure handling of physical and digital records and proper usage of IT systems to prevent data leaks. The unauthorized or improper disclosure of confidential work-related information obtained from any source on any work-related matter is a violation of these expectations.
  • Misconduct Disclosure Requirement: As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts an offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of substantiated misconduct with a previous employer.
