Job description

Are you looking for an incredible opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing dermatology services company? , headquartered in Austin, TX, is on a mission to improve access to dermatology services and provide exceptional patient care in underserved markets across the U.S.

We are looking for a service-oriented, motivated individual to join us as a Billing Patient Relations Specialist I to accomplish this mission. With ambitions to increase our reach over the next four to five years, our quickly expanding company has gone from a single site in 2015 to over100 dermatological clinics nationwide.

Our employees are the key to our success and we’re proud to offer eligible employees great benefits (many at no cost!), perks like free skin care, generous time off plans, the opportunity for growth, and the chance to be part of a purpose-driven organization taking patient care to the next level.

We are excited to grow our team with individuals who are as passionate about our patients as we are and invest a lot of time and energy in our employees’ development because we believe being a part of the Epiphany team is a career opportunity—not just another job.

If you are interested in joining this mission-driven team, please consider applying today!

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a sharp, proactive teammate who thrives in a fast-moving environment and loves making an impact behind the scenes. In this role, you’ll be the engine that keeps our billing and collections process running smoothly—working across multiple insurance carriers and private-pay accounts, reviewing and posting charges with precision, and partnering with our offices to ensure every detail is accurate and compliant. If you’re energized by solving problems, keeping accounts spotless, and helping patients clearly understand their financial responsibilities and benefits, we’d love to meet you.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times!

  • Answer inbound phone calls to the Billing support line and perform outbound phone calls as necessary.

  • Explain the claims process and explanation of benefits, effectively and professionally.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of business office processes—especially charge review—and stay up to date on Modernizing Medicine enhancements to ensure accurate, confident communication with patients about their accounts.

  • Maintain thorough and detailed knowledge of cosmetic and self-pay billing.

  • Prepare, review, and post non-insurance bills/charges using billing software, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Verify that charges have been entered and approved in accordance with company policy for every checked-in appointment (missing charges report).

  • Communicate professionally and effectively with staff and offices relating to patient escalation, cosmetic bills, fee sheets and inventory items.

  • Respond to care questions or complaints in order to immediately resolve. Provide documentation on unresolved issues voiced by patients and refer to the appropriate party for resolution.

  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

If you’re a team player, with excellent customer service skills, experience with billing, and knowledgeable on all things medical billing … we want to talk to you!

Qualifications/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • At least one (1) year of related experience in medical billing, and/or at least one (1) year of employment at Epiphany Dermatology; an equivalent combination of tenure, experience, and education may also be considered.

  • Previous experience in administrative medical office - highly preferred.

  • Must be available to work onsite, at the Austin HQ (no remote work options for external candidates)

  • Experience with Modernizing Medicine a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Administrativeoffice may have minimum visits to medical offices with possible exposure to procedure/exam room and laboratory environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, biohazards or toxic substances. Daily activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending and lifting items up to 30 lbs.
