Job description

Talent Acquisition Specialist (Senior Level)

The Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist leads the full life cycle recruiting process for field and craft non-exempt positions, including both DOT and non-DOT roles such as line workers, electricians, plant operators, and maintenance technicians. This position independently manages technical, non-technical, and management openings, serving as a subject matter expert and resource to less experienced talent acquisition team members. The role focuses on delivering high-quality hiring outcomes through creative sourcing, strong partnerships with hiring leaders and HR, and a consistent, compliant candidate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full life cycle recruiting for field and craft non-exempt positions, including non-DOT and DOT roles such as line workers, electricians, plant operators, and maintenance technicians.
  • Independently manage a mix of technical, non-technical, and management-level positions within an assigned territory.
  • Partner closely with hiring managers and HR Business Partners to understand staffing needs, define role requirements, and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Screen resumes and conduct candidate interviews by phone and, when needed, via video or in person to assess qualifications, experience, and fit.
  • Administer appropriate assessments, coordinate reference and background checks, and synthesize information to make clear recommendations to hire or not hire.
  • Prepare, present, and deliver employment offers for both exempt and non-exempt positions, ensuring a professional and consistent candidate experience.
  • Communicate key employment details during the offer stage, including benefits, compensation, and any applicable employment agreements.
  • Serve as the recruiting expert for the assigned territory, advising hiring managers on market trends, candidate availability, and best practices.
  • Partner with Sourcing Specialists to ensure a strong, qualified slate of candidates is presented for each opening.
  • Manage the internal transfer process, including candidate screening, interview coordination, and preparation and delivery of transfer offer letters.
  • Follow up with candidates and hiring managers to gather feedback and continuously improve the recruiting process and candidate experience.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external candidates to support ongoing and future staffing needs.
  • Ensure onboarding and new hire orientation processes are initiated and completed in alignment with company procedures.
  • Work with hiring managers to ensure recruiting and hiring practices comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including affirmative action plan requirements.
  • Manage the candidate activity within the applicant tracking system (ATS), specifically Workday, maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Maintain application and resume files and retention practices in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, suggest, and help implement ongoing process improvements to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance of the recruiting function.
  • Act as a knowledgeable resource and informal mentor to less seasoned Talent Acquisition team members, sharing best practices and guidance as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of five years of corporate, non-agency talent acquisition experience with proven success recruiting and placing candidates in field and craft non-exempt roles, including both non-DOT and DOT positions.
  • At least three years of experience working with electronic applicant tracking systems (ATS), with a strong preference for Workday.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting for union roles, strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in full cycle recruiting, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, and offer management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to candidates and internal stakeholders.
  • Solid business acumen, with the ability to understand operational needs and align recruiting strategies accordingly.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, manage multiple requisitions, and prioritize competing demands.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with hiring managers, HR partners, and candidates.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations, including affirmative action plan requirements.
  • Proficiency with applicant tracking systems and general recruiting tools and technologies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Workday as an applicant tracking system is strongly preferred.
  • Experience recruiting for unionized environments is strongly preferred.
  • Consulting and coaching skills, with the ability to advise hiring managers on hiring decisions and talent strategies.
  • Global and cultural awareness, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with candidates and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to suggest and support process improvements within the recruiting function.
  • Background in recruiting for utility, industrial, or field-based operations roles is a plus.
  • Comfort working in a remote environment while maintaining high levels of responsiveness and collaboration.
