Senior Technical Engineer
Position Description: Seeking a Senior Technical Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert for the ATLAS program—our large-scale initiative modernizing workforce management for 55,000+ employees across the US and Canada. In this hybrid role, you will act as both a System Administrator and a Data Engineer. You will be responsible for the technical configuration of our timekeeping platform and the integrity of the data pipelines that connect it to Ford's Payroll, HR, and Finance systems. While Ford utilizes WorkForce Software (WFS), we are looking for a technical powerhouse with deep experience in enterprise-grade WFM solutions who can design complex labor rules and manage large-scale data integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Configuration: Assist with technical build and "under-the-hood" configuration of Time & Attendance, Scheduling, and Absence Management modules.
- Data & Integration Engineering: Design and maintain ETL pipelines and API integrations (REST/SOAP) to ensure seamless data flow between the WFM platform and Ford's internal ecosystem.
- Rule Engine Development: Translate complex union contracts, labor laws, and manufacturing work rules into precise system logic and automated calculations.
- Platform Governance: Manage system health, security roles, and environment stability. Lead the technical validation of software patches and version upgrades.
- Advanced Analytics: Use SQL and data modeling to build complex reports, identifying trends in labor costs, compliance risks, and operational efficiency.
Primary Skills Required:
- WFM Platform Configuration: Hands-on experience configuring enterprise workforce management software (, WorkForce Software (preferred), UKG/Kronos, Ceridian Dayforce, or SAP SuccessFactors).
- Data Engineering: Advanced SQL skills and experience building/maintaining ETL pipelines.
- Systems Integration: Proven ability to manage data exchanges via APIs, flat files, and XML.
- Technical Analysis: Ability to bridge the gap between complex business requirements and technical system architecture.
- Agile Methodology: Experience working in an Agile/Jira environment.
Experience Required:
- 10+ years of IT experience supporting complex, large-scale enterprise programs.
- WFM Expertise: Direct experience configuring and administering a major Workforce Management platform for a large-scale population (10,000+ employees).
- Data Background: Strong track record of managing data integrity and integrations for HR or Payroll-related systems.
- Manufacturing/Union Context: Experience navigating the complexities of union work rules, rotating shifts, and plant-based scheduling.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with US/Canadian labor regulations (ELSA, provincial laws) and their technical application in timekeeping.
Preferred Experience:
• Direct experience with WorkForce Software (WFS)
• Experience with cloud-based data tools (Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, etc.).
- Background in automotive or high-volume industrial environments.
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
Additional Information:
• Location: Onsite in Dearborn, Ml — minimum 4 days per week.
- • Note: This is a hands-on technical role. Candidates must have experience in back-end system configuration and data management. Functional project managers without configuration experience will not be considered.
