Job Title: Controls EngineerJob DescriptionJoin a dynamic Controls team focused on hands-on troubleshooting, equipment recovery, sensor and motion diagnostics, and robotics support. This role involves collaborating closely with maintenance and operations teams to stabilize manufacturing lines and reduce downtime in a high variability equipment environment. The position operates under a disciplined delivery model with regular touchpoints and measurable feedback loops.
Responsibilities
- Stabilize manufacturing lines through rapid controls and automation troubleshooting.
- Support operators and maintenance personnel in a high variability equipment environment.
- Reduce downtime associated with PLC controlled equipment, sensors, robotics, and servo systems.
- Mirror the successful Process Technician / Junior Engineer engagement and staffing model.
- Build long-term technical ownership and continuity within the controls environment.
- Troubleshoot PLC controlled manufacturing equipment without program ownership unless explicitly authorized.
- Support robotics systems, including basic operation, fault diagnostics, and recovery assistance.
- Diagnose servo drives, motion control systems, and related control interfaces.
- Identify and resolve sensor-related faults, such as photo eyes, proximity sensors, and encoders.
- Support line startups, changeovers, and equipment recovery efforts.
- Partner with maintenance and OEMs during complex or escalated failures.
- Document recurring issues, failure trends, and recommend corrective actions.
Essential Skills- Experience in manufacturing environments with multiple production lines and equipment types.
- Proficiency in robotics systems support, recovery, and diagnostics.
- Knowledge of servo-driven equipment and motion control fundamentals.
- Understanding of industrial sensor technologies, including photo eyes, proximity sensors, encoders, and vision interfaces.
- Capability in practical controls troubleshooting without primary program ownership.
- Ability to operate effectively in high equipment variety environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with PLC programming, specifically Rockwell.
Work EnvironmentThe Oxford facility is Revlon's largest manufacturing site globally, spanning an area equivalent to 12 football fields. It is a modern, climate-controlled manufacturing plant producing cosmetics, fragrances, skincare, and personal care products. The environment is cleaner and more regulated than heavy manufacturing plants due to FDA quality expectations. Employees work in conditioned production areas, maintenance shops, and offices, ensuring a comfortable and safe working environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
