Job descriptionWe have an outstanding Contract position for a Senior VDI / Data Center Implementation Engineer to join a leading Company in the Fort Gordon, GA surrounding area. **US Citizenship is required.** **Candidates must possess an Active Secret Security Clearance.** This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer who can design, build, and deliver a full VDI solution end-to-end, combining deep technical expertise with hands-on implementation and customer engagement. The Senior VDI / Data Center Implementation Engineer is responsible for the design, deployment, and implementation of enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions within a secure government environment. This role combines hands-on data center installation, virtualization engineering, and customer-facing solution design to deliver a fully functional and scalable VDI platform. Job Responsibilities:-Deploy and install data center infrastructure, including racking, cabling, and validating Cisco UCS and related hardware-Design and implement virtualization platforms using VMware vSphere, vSAN, and VMware Horizon VDI-Develop solution architecture and documentation, including High-Level and Low-Level Designs (HLD/LLD)-Configure networking, storage, and security components to support scalable VDI environments-Create and manage virtual desktop images and pools aligned to user and application requirements-Support application virtualization and end-user access strategies-Execute testing and validation (ATP) to ensure system functionality and performance-Collaborate with stakeholders and provide technical guidance, including knowledge transfer and documentation Basic Hiring Criteria:- 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity consulting or advisory roles, preferably in federal environments-Demonstrated experience performing security tool assessments, rationalization, or portfolio optimization-Strong working knowledge of enterprise security tools (, Splunk, CrowdStrike Falcon, vulnerability management, IAM, network security)-Proven familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as FISMA and NIST Risk Management Framework-Ability to conduct stakeholder interviews and facilitate working sessions with senior government personnel-Strong analytical skills, including cost-benefit analysis and operational efficiency evaluation-Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience delivering executive-level reports and recommendations-Active Secret clearance and ability to work on-site in a federal environment-Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter-Hands-on experience with VMware Horizon (VDI environments)-Knowledge of Cisco UCS server infrastructure and data center hardware-Understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing)-Experience with Active Directory, GPOs, and enterprise authentication-Ability to perform physical data center installation (rack/stack/cable)-Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills Desired Qualifications:-Security tool rationalization and assessment experience in enterprise environments-Experience evaluating enterprise security tools such as Splunk, CrowdStrike Falcon, and Tenable Nessus-Ability to identify tool overlap, capability gaps, and cost inefficiencies across security portfolios-Broad cybersecurity knowledge across SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, IAM, and network security domains-Prior experience supporting federal cybersecurity environments, including agencies such as the United States Department of State, DoD, DHS, or the Intelligence Community-Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as FISMA and NIST Risk Management Framework-Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including conducting interviews and facilitating working sessions with technical and executive stakeholders-Experience performing cost-benefit analysis and operational efficiency assessments of security tools-Ability to translate technical findings into clear, executive-level recommendations-Experience producing structured reports and executive-level presentations for leadership audiences-Ability to manage scope, timelines, and deliverables independently in fast-paced consulting engagements-Experience with enterprise storage solutions (, vSAN, NetApp)-Familiarity with government or secure environments-Knowledge of application virtualization (App Volumes)-Experience with scripting or automation tools Benefits offered to vary by the contract.
