Job Description / Responsibilities
Wells Fargo is seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in designing and developing enterprise-scale systems that handle high volumes of data. This role is primarily backend-focused and involves building and supporting microservices using modern Java-based technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable, high-performance solutions to support client applications
Develop enterprise systems using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot-based microservices, and RDBMS technologies
Work independently with minimal supervision, owning tasks end-to-end from initiation through resolution
Proactively identify and resolve issues, escalating when appropriate and ensuring timely follow-through
Collaborate closely with peer developers to translate business and functional requirements into technical designs
Ensure automated test plans and scripts align with customer and system requirements
Communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional teams (product, QA, DevOps, infrastructure)
Support systems outside normal business hours when required
Develop and enhance microservices that integrate with middleware technologies such as Kafka/JMS
Contribute to modernization and cloud-native initiatives leveraging container platforms
Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of overall IT experience
Strong proficiency in Java 17 with hands-on experience in Spring Boot microservices development
Primarily backend-focused Java engineer with expertise in:
Java services
Databases
Enterprise integrations
3+ years of SQL development experience (SQL Server and/or Oracle)
Strong hands-on experience with Kafka
Experience with:
Cloud platforms
Test Automation
Front-end technologies such as React
Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with OpenShift and/or Kubernetes
Familiarity with containerized deployments and CI/CD pipelines
Enterprise financial services experience is a plus
