Crate Builder/Field Service
Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm
Pay: $14 per hour
Position Summary
The Crate Builder is responsible for constructing custom and standard wooden crates used for shipping, storage, and transportation of products. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read measurements and instructions, and safe operation of hand and power tools in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Travel with the crew to build crates
Build, assemble, and repair wooden crates, pallets, and skids according to specifications
Measure, cut, and assemble wood materials using hand and power tools
Read and follow blueprints, job orders, or customer specifications
Ensure crates meet quality, safety, and durability standards
Secure products properly inside crates to prevent damage during transport
Operate tools such as saws, nail guns, drills, hammers, and staple guns safely
Inspect finished crates for accuracy and structural integrity
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines
Work collaboratively with warehouse, shipping, or production teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
Experience with hand and power tools (preferred)
Basic math and measurement skills
Ability to lift heavy materials (often 50+ lbs)
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Dependable attendance and good time management
Willingness to work in a warehouse or shop environment
Must have steel toes, hammer, & tape measurer
Preferred Qualifications
Previous crate builder, carpenter, or warehouse experience
Knowledge of wood materials and fasteners
Blueprint or schematic reading experience
Forklift experience (a plus, not always required)
Work Environment
Warehouse or manufacturing setting
Standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion
Exposure to noise, wood dust, and tools
