Intern – Veterinary Assistant

What You'll Do
You'll support daily operations inside the shelter clinic-assisting with medical care, surgery prep, recovery monitoring, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for animals and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments, packs, and equipment
- Assist with surgery prep, anesthesia support, and post-op recovery monitoring
- Maintain clean, stocked surgical suites, cages, and workspaces
- Support routine medical procedures, lab work, and animal triage
- Accurately document care, treatments, and intake using shelter systems
What You Bring – Education & Experience
- At least 16 years old
- Interest in veterinary medicine, animal care, or related field
- Ability to follow instructions, stay organized, and work independently
- Strong communication skills and professionalism with staff and public
Preferred Certifications
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Basic understanding of medical or lab environments (helpful but not required)
- Ability to learn equipment such as autoclaves and diagnostic tools
- Comfortable using databases and tracking systems
