What you'll achieve As a Principal Systems Development Engineer, you will architect, design, and implement complex embedded system and platform-level solutions for Dell's enterprise products. Our team drives innovative, board-level, and SoC-level platform architectures. Delivering detailed designs and specifications that span system control hardware, firmware, and system embedded software, while enabling scalable design methodologies across product lines. You will: * Define and develop internal system control architectures including board-level interfaces, bus topologies, and hardware-firmware integration points across extended teams * Create design and architectural documentation for embedded platform features, defining innovative technologies for next-generation system-on-chip, board, and subsystem designs. * Design, develop, and implement efficient and scalable embedded design methods spanning silicon, firmware, BIOS/BMC, FPGA, and hardware abstraction layers, including security features for servers. * Develop bring-up and validation strategies, create prototypes, write low-level test and diagnostic software, and debug new features on next-generation platforms Take the first step towards your dream career Every Dell Technologies team member brings something unique to the table. Here's what we are looking for with this role: Essential Requirements * 8 to 12 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree or 6+ years with a master's degree * Strong understanding of computer systems, embedded computer architecture, including processor subsystems, BMC subsystems, peripheral interfaces (PCIe, I2C, SPI, USB), and power management * Demonstrated experience with hardware-firmware-software co-design and the ability to debug and resolve issues across abstraction layers * Familiarity with schematic review, signal integrity concepts, or board-level design collaboration * Familiarity with embedded firmware, BIOS/UEFI, BMC, FPGA, or device driver development and familiarity with lab instrumentation (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers) for system debug Desirable Requirements * Strong communication skills with an ability to lead a workgroup as well as capability to influence others to achieve results * Experience with platform boot flows, system initialization, HW/FW security, or operating systems Compensation Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
