Job description

Technical Project Manager

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the migration of our current Business Objects reporting environment to a new, modernized data ecosystem utilizing Google BigQuery and Looker for the semantic layer. This role will oversee the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of this critical project, ensuring that it meets the business objectives and is completed on time and within budget. This is a contract position with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of BI engineers, Business Analysts and Data Architect and different stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of these projects on time and within budget.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

Develop a comprehensive project plan, outlining the scope, objectives, deliverables, timeline, and resources required for the migration.

Coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data engineers, BI engineers, data analysts, and IT personnel to ensure alignment and understanding of the project's goals and requirements.

Manage and track project risks, issues, and dependencies, proactively addressing and resolving any challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.

Monitor and report on project progress, including key milestones, deliverables, and financials, to ensure timely and accurate completion.

Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Implement and adhere to best practices in project management, data management, and data governance.

Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.

Ensure a smooth and effective transition from the existing Business Objects environment to the new BigQuery and Looker platform.

Work in an Agile environment that focuses on collaboration and teamwork.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on data-related projects. Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex, large-scale data migration projects. Experience with Business Objects, Google BigQuery, and Looker is strongly preferred. Familiarity with data warehouse concepts, data modeling, and data integration techniques.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities - Strong project management skills, including expertise in Agile methodologies (including SCRUM) and project management tools (we are using GitLab). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and adapt to changing project requirements. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail. Experience with SQL, data visualization tools, and BI reporting platforms is a plus.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is strongly preferred Agile Scrum Master certification or similar is a plus Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or Looker certification is a plus, but not required

Physical Requirements / Work Environment Hybrid mode (2 days a week in the office)
