Financial Analyst
We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to provide financial and analytical support within a large, complex organization. This role supports multiple service lines and partners closely with operational and finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting, variance analysis, and timely financial insights. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and communicating financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze financial variances, trends, and performance drivers
- Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reviews
- Prepare dashboards, customized financial reports, and ad hoc analyses for leadership
- Perform cost analysis and run costing queries from financial or cost accounting systems
- Assist with budget development, forecasting, and financial modeling
Accounting & Compliance Support:
- Apply general accounting, GAAP, cost accounting, and financial management principles
- Support audit and tax-related processes as needed
- Maintain accuracy and consistency in financial data and reporting
Business Partnership & Communication:
- Serve as a financial liaison to operational leaders and business unit managers
- Clearly explain financial results, reports, and variances to stakeholders at all levels
- Respond promptly to leadership inquiries, particularly in cost management and savings initiatives
Systems & Process Improvements:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and reporting tools
- Support cost accounting systems, financial policies, and process improvements
- Participate in inventory counts and on-site financial activities as required
Required Qualifications:
- 4 to 7+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, including: general accounting, GAAP accounting, cost accounting, financial management, journal entries, and month-end close
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration (CPA not required)
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with tax preparation and/or financial audits
- Background in large, complex organizations or enterprise environments
- Accounting experience with Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, or EY is highly desirable but not required
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $34.92 - $52.39/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
